Thanks Courtney. I always appreciate your insights and ways of seeing the world. I do think there is a trade-off between a “portfolio approach” and going deep into one thing, though the world needs both experts and generalists. What is more important is that individuals understand who they are and what makes them shine, if you will.

I worry that our current culture too often emphasizes the hero, the entrepreneur, the “great man (or woman) theory”. We’ve struggled with that at Acumen, too — are we building leaders or are we creating an ethos for moral leadership? Hopefully, both. Ultimately, the world needs all of us to redefine success and, as you say, encourage all of us to move toward our own True Norths grounded in values and virtues that start with the world beyond ourselves. Your recent TED talk (can’t wait for it to be posted) did a brilliant job of emphasizing that.
